So we've all seen them in the magazine's and in the blogesphere: the Dorothy Draper Espana Dresser. So beautiful, such a classic.
Sigh, if only my living room could look like these pictures
Well lucky me found a knock off at the local Salvation Army for $15! I was by myself and was trying to figure out how I would get it into my not big car all by myself, but the price was too good, so I bought it. Then wrestled her into my car.
Here's the before:
EEEEKK!!
It was love at first sight, then reality hit. My back hurt so badly from bending over the drawers to paint them and might I mention that I had to paint the grooves THREE times!
The color is Midnight Dream from Behr and I thought I didn't like it at first but now I'm in love again. Grooves and handles were painted using Modern Metals spray paint in Champagne Silver. That's right kiddies I said spray paint! I couldn't find a color I liked in regular paint so spray paint had to do. For the grooves I had to spray into a dixie cup and use a small brush quickly before it dried in the cup. It was madness, but I do like the end result so for $15 it was worth it.
And the after, sorry about the poor picture quality. I think it's time for the hub's and I to get a new digital camera!
Hello pretty lady!
Here's a closeup of the items on top.
Foo dog is from Marshals-$3.99. Originally he was orange. The small frame is of 2 stamped figures on homemade type paper from the Rescue Mission-$1.00. The tree print is called Love Birds from Etsy seller onceuponapaper. Little french bulldog figure gift from my mother in law.
Well I'm off for now, gotta get ready for work and then head to Mount Adnah Cemetery in Fulton to take a picture of a gravestone for Findagrave (I volunteer) for a fellow genealogist.
